Upcoming Intersection Work
[new!] On October 21 and 22 the contractor is scheduled to perform road surface work in the intersection of Appletree Drive and Fulton Road. Additionally, on October 23, the contractor will be working in the intersection of Piner Road and Fulton Road. Traffic controls will be in place while this work is underway and motorist should anticipate delays when traveling through the area. More details on the timing and impacts of this work will be provided in subsequent newsletters.Project Update
[updated!] The contractor began installing the center medians throughout the project site last week. Crews started working at the north end of the project near Piner Road and are currently moving south along Fulton Road towards the Guerneville Road intersection. This work is expected to last for another 1-2 weeks, with traffic control measures limited to the areas where crews are actively working. As always, when traveling in or near the construction areas, be cautious and aware of work crews, flaggers, traffic control, rough roadways, special signage, and heavy equipment. Please be prepared for temporary traffic control measures throughout the work area. The contractor will be on-site next week performing work on water and sewer covers, and valves throughout the project site. While this work is underway there will be portions of the road that are reduced down to one lane. This work is expected to last for 1-2 weeks.
Starting next week the contractor will begin installing irrigation lines and controls as they prepare to begin installing landscaping in along the sidewalk and center medians.
It’s currently anticipated that the project will be completed by November, 2024. Note – all schedules are subject to change due to weather or unforeseen circumstances. The completion of work is also largely dependent on the contractor’s schedule and when city inspectors are able to sign-off on the work. City staff are currently inspecting the contractor’s recent work to ensure it meets the contract specifications. Any roadway panels that do not comply with the contract will be replaced at the contractor’s expense.
Construction Underway and Upcoming
In addition to the ongoing replacement of roadway panels, the installation of landscape irrigation controllers and landscape plantings will begin shortly. The installation of median curbs is currently underway. While there may be some traffic control/lane closure, these two items are not expected to significantly impact use of the roadway.
Project Overview
This project will widen, reconstruct, and rehabilitate one mile of Fulton Road between Guerneville Road and Piner Road, transforming it into an updated, four-lane regional/arterial street, as well as provide many other improvements.
Work hours: 7 A.M. to 7 P.M. Monday thru Friday. With City approval, periodic work on nights (8:30 P.M. to 5:00 A.M.) or weekends may take place.
