Night Work at the Fulton Rd and Guerneville Rd Intersection
[updated!] The intersection of Fulton Road and Guerneville Road is scheduled for repaving during the evenings of Thursday, October 3, 2024, and Friday, October 4, 2024. Construction activities will take place during the hours of 8:00 P.M. and 6:00 A.M. on both nights. While this work is underway there may be times when vehicular access through the intersection will be restricted. Flaggers, detours, and traffic control devices will be used to help direct vehicular and pedestrian traffic. Emergency vehicles will always be accommodated. Maps of the detour routes will be posted on the project website by early next week.Project Update
[updated!] The contractor began installing the center medians throughout the project site last week. Crews started working at the north end of the project near Piner Road and are currently moving south along Fulton Road towards the Guerneville Road intersection. This work is expected to last for another 2 weeks, with traffic control measures limited to the areas where crews are actively working. As always, when traveling in or near the construction areas, be cautious and aware of work crews, flaggers, traffic control, rough roadways, special signage, and heavy equipment. Please be prepared for temporary traffic control measures throughout the work area. The contractor will be on-site next week performing work on water and sewer covers, and valves throughout the project site. While this work is underway there will be portions of the road that are reduced down to one lane. This work is expected to last for 3-4 weeks.
It’s currently anticipated that the project will be completed by early November, 2024. Note – all schedules are subject to change due to weather or unforeseen circumstances. The completion of work is also largely dependent on the contractor’s schedule and when city inspectors are able to sign-off on the work. City staff are currently inspecting the contractor’s recent work to ensure it meets the contract specifications. Any roadway panels that do not comply with the contract will be replaced at the contractor’s expense.
Construction Underway and Upcoming
In addition to the ongoing replacement of roadway panels, the installation of landscape irrigation controllers and landscape plantings is currently underway. The installation of median curbs is anticipated to get underway the first week of September. While there may be some traffic control/lane closure, these two items are not expected to significantly impact use of the roadway.
It’s anticipated that paving at the intersections of Fulton/Guerneville and Fulton/Piner will take place in late September or early October. Following that, crews will continue with various smaller “punch list” items.
Project Overview
This project will widen, reconstruct, and rehabilitate one mile of Fulton Road between Guerneville Road and Piner Road, transforming it into an updated, four-lane regional/arterial street, as well as provide many other improvements.
Work hours: 7 A.M. to 7 P.M. Monday thru Friday. With City approval, periodic work on nights (8:30 P.M. to 5:00 A.M.) or weekends may take place.
